St. Marys Mardi Gras Festival

Warner Robins Arbor Day Seedling Give-Away

Keep Warner Robins Beautiful invites you to plant a tree to celebrate Arbor Day! On Saturday, February 22nd, beginning at 9:00 a.m., native tree seedlings (courtesy of Flint Energies) will be given away for free (while they last) at Kroger on Highway 96 in Warner Robins. Event runs from 2-4 p.m. In association with the "Black Heritage and the Brotherhood of Man 2020" exhibition, the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art presents "Crossing Color Lines, Past and Present," a panel discussion. Four of the participating artists will take part in a roundtable discussion of Steffen’s Brotherhood of Man philosophy, his relationships with African American friends during his lifetime as well as racial barriers in our current culture. (Free and open to the public.)

Join us again this season for Symphony Sundays at Pretoria Fields. Enjoy the sounds of ASO musicians in a relaxed, casual environment up close & personal. In September hear members of the Southern Arts Jazz Ensemble who most recently performed as part of last year’s Swingin on the River concert. Heritage | History | Hope. A Black History Cabaret Experience Presented by B.L.A.C.T. Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets from $20. Top Atlanta artists will take audiences on a soul-stirring journey through the African American experience. Produced by Tina Fears, Marcus Hopkins-Turner and Brittani Minnieweather, this one-night-only special event will feature spoken word artists, musicians and powerhouse vocalists to highlight African American history and heritage in an uplifting artistic celebration. Artists scheduled to appear include Lawrence Flowers, Naima Carter Russell, Eugene H. The Steak Cookoff Association is the fastest growing cooking organization in the world. Our class is comprised of 4 parts: Ribeye 101- Learn about why we love steaks! Table Captain 101- Learn how to be a table captain. Ancillary Judging 101 - Learn the judging process for all SCA ancillary categories. Steak Judging 101 - Learn the entire steak judging process. Did we mention we taste steaks in class? If you are a cooker who is new to the world of steak cook-offs, this class is invaluable! Have the entire judging process explained to you by SCA Reps who run weekly competitions.

Symposium on Disrupting Aging

Northeast Georgia Mountains
Discover how to “Disrupt Aging” from nationally and locally recognized speakers at a two-day symposium March 6 - 7. The Friday night reception and Saturday workshops focus on healthy positive aging, maintaining your quality of life, and interactive exercises. The symposium will be held at the University of North Georgia Gainesville Campus. Interested community members, health professionals, and licensed health care workers can register to attend at www.wisdomproject2030.org or by calling University of North Georgia at 678-717-3605 during normal business hours. Friday’s keynote speaker is Dr. Harry “Rick” Moody, a nationally recognized authority on successful aging. Saturday's keynote speaker is Debra Tyler-Horton, Georgia's AARP Executive Director. Wisdom Project 2030, Inc., UNG Center for Healthy Aging, and Georgia Division of Aging Services are hosts. The Georgia Gerontology Society, Brenau University Center for Productive Living and Brenau University Learning and Leisure Institute are partnering in this event.
