Help collect data on local wild birds for this annual, weekend long online citizen-science project of Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society taking place across the U.S., February 14-17, 2020. Chicopee Lake is one of the premier birding spots in northeast Georgia, we expect to see a wide variety of both resident birds and winter migrants including ducks, herons, raptors, sparrows, woodpeckers and more. This local birding hike is a seasonal public education program provided by Elachee Nature Science Center. FREE Program Participation. Arrive a few minutes before 8 a.m. with binoculars and dressed for the weather. The hike will not take place if it is raining. Parking Fee: all vehicles are subject to a Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission daily parking fee of $5. A cash-only parking fee box is located in the Chicopee Lake parking lot where you may purchase a $5 daily parking pass.
