Bach’s suites for unaccompanied cello are some of the most moving and spiritual compositions for a solo instrument. Musical pioneer Matt Haimovitz begins by performing three of the suites in separate locations around the UGA campus over the course of two days, prior to final performance of the remaining three suites in Hodgson Concert Hall. Each suite features an overture composed by Philip Glass, Du Yun, and Vijay Iyer, and others, resulting in a unique experience unparalleled in the classical music world.
Location and times of “pop up” performances on April 3-4 to be announced.
Make it an evening with a tour and free dessert at the Georgia Museum of Art at 5:30 p.m.
Pre-performance talk in Ramsey Concert Hall at 6:45 p.m. (free admission).
