The Strand Celebrates National Silent Film Day

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre will celebrate National Silent Film Day on Thursday, September 29 with a day of silent films and festivities. The Strand will screen five silent film shorts and the feature film "Safety Last!" all accompanied by a live score on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ. Accompanists include regionally renowned organists Ron Carter, Ken Double, Larry Davis, John McCall, and Eddie Hulsey. Silent film shorts begin at 3:00 PM and include Laurel and Hardy's "Liberty," Buster Keaton's "One Week," Harold Lloyd's "High and Dizzy," Harold Lloyd's "Billy Blazes," Barney Old-field's "Race For Life," and Buster Keaton's "The Playhouse," At 7:30 PM, house organist Ron Carter will accompany the famous silent film "Safety Last!" starring Harold Lloyd.
