Savannah River Productions, Inc proudly presents Ron Osbourne’s "First Baptist of Ivy Gap," Feb. 21-23, 28-March 2 at the Savannah River Playhouse.
Showtimes are Friday and Saturdays are at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
"First Baptist of Ivy Gap" takes place in the 1940s. The women of First Baptist in Ivy Gap, Tenn., are busy preparing bandages for the wounded in World War II and planning the church’s 75th anniversary. Overseeing things is Edith (Lynne Glasco), the pastor’s wife; Luby (Karen Fletcher), whose son is fighting in the Pacific; Mae Ellen (Andrea Bradford), the church’s rebellious organist; Olene (Rebecca Long), who dreams of a career in Hollywood; Sammy (Lexie Partain), a newcomer, and Vera (Joan Hughes), the banker’s wife. In the second act we meet them again in the 1970’s and hear the stories of the last 25 years.
