We welcome you to the wild world of warthogs! Come explore what it takes to care for these charismatic creatures and their neighbors in the African Savanna.
Do warthogs really have warts? Get an up-close look and see! Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at Zoo Atlanta’s African Savanna and give the warthogs a favorite treat. You’ll also meet members of the Zoo’s Animal Care Team and find out what goes into the care of warthogs and other savanna animals.
- Meet outside the warthog habitat near the SweetWater Beer Garden 15 minutes (at 12:45) before the Wild Encounter to check in.
- Please note that availability is limited for all Wild Encounters.

Developed in collaboration with the Georgia Writers Museum, the upcoming will feature the art of painter Raven Waters, potter Senora Lynch (Haliwa-Saponi Tribe) and Steffen Thomas.
This environmentally-focused exhibition will explore, with artists and writers and audience, our place in the natural world: do we exist as a part of nature? Or outside of nature, experiencing the environment as a tourist or a consumer?
The title is a play on the internet phrase “touch grass” or “go touch some grass” that is said as a criticism to someone that they have been online too much and are disconnected from reality/the real world.
The museum is open Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

During Memorial Day weekend for more than 49 years, Ringgold, a small town in north Georgia, has held its street festival that brings over 20,000 people to a town of about 3,500.
Just a few minutes south of Chattanooga on I-75, this two-day event takes place in historic downtown Ringgold, Georgia:
Friday evening, 5:30-10 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
Visitors will enjoy food, arts and crafts vendors, live music on multiple stages, a parade, a classic car show, a fireworks display Saturday night and much more.
Admission is free and all events are family-friendly.

Join the Dublin Daylily Club in a celebration of botanical delight Saturday, May 24th from 8:30 AM until 4 PM during the Dublin Daylily Show and Sale at Dublin Mall. Floral enthusiasts and garden aficionados come together to cherish one of the most beloved flowers in the world – the daylily! The sale begins at 8:30 AM. Judging is closed to the public and starts at 10 AM. The show floor opens for public viewing at 12:30 PM.

Join the Animal Care Team and one of our talented animal artists, meeting either the Zoo’s “VanGoat” or “Baaahlo,” and take home a unique work of art in this unforgettable experience.
Learn about the positive reinforcement training process of becoming an animal artist. See firsthand the ways this enrichment activity fits into high standards of care for animals at the Zoo when you meet a goat or sheep and see their art creation in action. Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific animal for your program.

Evans Market is a weekly Saturday market made up of local artisans, farmers, producers, and vendors. The Market will be held in the Market (1005 Market St.) in Evans on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the spring and fall.
The Spring Evans Market kicks off on Saturday, March 15, and will continue through June 28. (There will be no Evans Market on Saturday, April 12 or Saturday, April 19.)

Safari Camp at Zoo Atlanta offers a memorable adventure for campers ages 5-14 while fostering a deeper connection to animals and inspiring conservation action.
From Zoo explorations and group games to inquiry-based scientific investigations and projects, young explorers will be immersed in hands-on, minds-on learning while having fun. Experience a summer of excitement and discovery at Zoo Atlanta’s Summer Safari Camp! Select an individual week that fits in your summer plans, or spend the entire summer with us.
Age Ranges:
JUNIOR RANGERS (Ages 5-7):
Our youngest campers will learn about wildlife and wild places in a way that is experiential and collaborative. Throughout each week, Junior Ranger campers will:
- Explore the Zoo
- Participate in hands-on activities to support the weekly themes
- Connect with their fellow campers and Camp Educator
- Meet some of our amazing Ambassador Animals
- Engage in a project that they can share with the rest of Camp at the end of each session!TREK (Ages 8-11):
Young explorers will expand their learning about wildlife and conservation to new levels! Trek campers will engage with Zoo Atlanta by:
- Exploring the Zoo grounds, including behind-the-scenes areas
- Participating in interactive activities that connect them to conservation and ecological principles
- Collaborating with their Camp Educator and fellow campers to dive more deeply into the vital work Zoo Atlanta does to protect wildlife and wild placesQUEST (Ages 12-14):
At the apex of Zoo Atlanta’s Camp programming, Quest campers will further inspire their passion for wildlife conservation by joining us for an exciting week of exploring what providing exceptional animal care looks like in an AZA-accredited facility. Throughout the summer, Quest campers will:
- Engage with a variety of Zoo team members to learn how we provide exceptional care to over 200 species of animals, including invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals from a wide range of ecosystems.
- Explore animal care spaces and learn how our care teams adjust for changes in animal abilities and behaviors over time.
- Gain insights into meeting the mental and physical needs of individual animals and discover how to design and maintain habitats.
- Meet with a unique Zoo team each week and engage in experiences and activities tailored to that care team.
- Deepen their knowledge of Zoo Atlanta’s commitment to protect wildlife and their habitats in the wild through conservation projects and partnerships.THEMES:
Each week campers embark on a different Zoo expedition, exploring wildlife and wild places. From Vibrant Vets to Stewardship Superstars, participants will be engaged in learning about how to make a positive difference for animals! Learn more about our themes below.What You Need To Know:
Safari Camp is a great opportunity to engage young explorers in learning about the wild world around them and beginning their journey of conservation stewardship. Through Zoo explorations, up-close animal encounters, STEAM-based projects, hands-on science activities, environmental games and more, campers learn about attainable strategies and goals to combat environmental issues and are charged with finding simple ways that they can make a difference.While Zoo Atlanta is a great place to discover nature and wildlife, it is also important that campers have a chance to experience wildlife in a more natural setting. Campers and their Educators may travel out to Grant Park (which surrounds the Zoo) to participate in a variety of activities such as nature walks, environmental research, and group team-building games.

The Department of Public Health is hosting a free nutrition class for the community at Lithia Springs Methodist Church. The classes will be held on Wednesday mornings from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. beginning on April 23 and ending on May 28. The classes will focus on nutrition, physical activity and food preparation.
